源自中世纪拉丁语 incarcerātusincarcerō (囚禁)的过去分词,源自拉丁语 in- (里,内) + carcer (牢房),即“放入牢房”。与cancel (用线划掉)chancel (格栅,栅栏后的地方)有关。
