古旧用法:源自中古英语 orguile古法语 orgueil [1]通俗拉丁语 *orgōllia, *orgōlla古法兰克语 *orgōllja原始日耳曼语 *uzgōljō(对比古英语 orgol, orgel。参见or- + *gōl (炫耀,夸耀;气派,显赫) / gale ())。与古高地德语 urguol, urguoli, urgilo, 西班牙语 orgullo同源。现代用法多是借自法语 orgueil[2]
