  • Literallyfiguratively的反義詞,因此很多官方機構反對將literally用作比喻用法的語氣加強詞,比如「you literally become the ball」,不帶任何比喻義的話,就是指「你變成了球」,而這是不可能的,但是實際上,這是說話人在使用literally作為語氣加強詞,來強調比喻義的程度。這種用法在非正式口語中很常見(「she was literally in floods of tears」)。
