編輯美國20世紀60年代,可能源自dick (「雞巴」)在學生用語中的委婉形式,特別是在美國中西部。[1][2][3][4]本詞從未用於特指鯨魚的陰莖,而只是指廣義的陰莖。
另一詞源理論認為其源自方言挪威語 dorg (「一摞;蠢人」)。
