    來自新拉丁語 defenestratio,來自 (自;外) + fenestra (窗戶) + -atio (表示動作或過程的後綴);對照中古法語 défenestrer (現代法語 défenestrer)、défenestration意大利語 defenestrazione德語 Fenstersturz。動詞defenestrate是後來形成的。
